Refurbishment

The Hotel Alpenruh*** underwent a step-by-step refurbishment between 2016 and 2019. A modern yet cosy "Alpine Chic" interior design concept was chosen, with pale woods and matching lighting carefully combined with sympathetic furnishings and vintage accessories to create a uniform, welcoming look and feel.

Refurbishment Stage 1

In the spring of 2016, renovation work started with the modernisation of the entrance and reception area and bar. In addition to new furnishings, the floor coverings were replaced, energy-efficient windows were installed, and insulation was applied to the exterior walls. The interior façade was refreshed using sandblasting technology.

Refurbishment Stage 2

The outdoor terrace was refurbished in June 2017, followed in autumn by the renovation of the roof and the exterior façade. Like the interior, the latter was refreshed using sandblasting technology, resulting in a significantly brightened appearance.

A test hotel room was furnished to trial the new interior design concept. This room was tested by hotel guests in the following winter.

Refurbishment Stage 3

Summer 2018 saw the complete refurbishment of six hotel rooms. The aim was to create an ambiance that exudes "Swissness" and reflects the authenticity of Mürren and the surrounding mountain environment. Valuable feedback from the test room was incorporated into the design and choice of materials. The warm hues of the parquet flooring pick up the subtle colours of the furnishings: new beds, comfortable and functional seating and state-of-the-art television sets ensure that guests can relax and enjoy a comfortable stay. The images and art on the walls reflect and enhance the alpine theme.

The same summer saw the replacement of the paving on the sun terrace and upgrade of the service lifts between the kitchen and restaurant.

Refurbishment Stage 4

In the autumn of 2019, the corridors and staircases were renovated in the final refurbishment stage to date. The floors and windows were replaced, and new lighting was installed. Each floor was dedicated to a different season.

At the same time, all rooms on the lower ground floor were refurbished in the same Alpine Chic design as the previously updated rooms. Each room received its own landscape image taken by one of various photographers.
